    Hi Guys,

Before I get flamed, as I know it's an emotive subject on forums when it comes to wheels, :p I have searched the forums for recent thoughts....but the Thrustmaster range has changed, so I'm after advice of which wheel to purchase based on current advice :)

    I currently use a G27 and it's slowly dying. I don't want to replace with a G27 or G920.

So, I'm looking at Thrustmaster, either the T300, TX or T500RS.

The T300 and T500RS are at the same price point currently, and I hear:

    • T300 / TX - Better (more refined) feedback, slightly less power than T500RS.
    • T500RS - Better Pedals in the bundle (The Pro ones)
Gear stick I'm not overly concerned about at this stage as looking to make one + handbrake.

I wish I could get a Fanatec, but I can't stretch to the CSW, and SimX and Accuforce I can only dream about.
If you had $700-$1000 to get a wheels / pedal setup, which would you choose?? :popcorn

If I had to chose between those, I'd go...TX300 + Fanatec v2 (or 3) pedals..

Save a little longer (G27 aint dead yet right ?) Then splurge on the Fanatec gear.....You know you want to ;)

Imo TM gear doesn't even come close to the same overall quality that fanatec gear just oooooozes with.

Im in the same boat Archie, Us Canucks pay 25% more than the US guys do currently.....stupid exchange rate.

not to mention the ridiculous shipping charges, Lol

CSW base for US guys cost between 20-38$ to ship anywhere in the US......Canada...66$...bah shenanigans i say.

To ship a whole combo of gear, so A Wheel base, Pedals, Shifter and wheel. they want a Ludicrous 217$ for shipping....DA FUQ they smokin over there.

Archie, now that you are entertaining suggestions outside of TM, I too would recommend the Fanatec CSW. Absolutely love mine, along with the BMW rim and their Elite pedals. Three years and still going strong. (CSW v1)

Hmmm.... CSW all the way it would seem :)

I assume if a CSW v1 comes along, then that would still be a viable base to get?

The V2 is over AU$1000 just for the base... :/

The total cost of the basket for AU members is ridiculous high, for that amount I get a DD wheel and a shifter plus a full functional wheel plate with buttons and flip switches and still can save money...

Aussie prices are crippling, but I guess another way to look at it is as a long term investment.

Mine is a CSW v1 with the F1 and BMW wheels, plus pedals, I have had for something like 4 years and it is still going strong. I have already decided I will run the base until it dies and then use the wheels together with an OSW upgrade.

Agreed @noorbeast honestly I think if someone is going to spend much money why not going the DD wheel route?

    With the current exchange rate it's pretty normal...AUD 2219,- = EUR 1487,-
If I order the same from EU store it will cost: 1669,- (incl all taxes WITHOUT shipping)

Still worth the money though IMO...But the Mige's are winking to me too :p

The question is: what ist the worth of AUD 2219.- in AU, what do you get for this amount in your country? The exchange can be different from this, f.eg. Swiss Francs and Euro - the relationship between both are wrong due to the crisis in the EU...

I agree, it would be best to look at the PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) between AU and other countries to see what the real difference is in cost.

Some great resources to access data:

    International Monetary Fund
    http://www.imf.org/external/research/index.aspx

A good article about PPP comparted to market indexes at the IMF

The other thing that plays out is price markup by sector and in Australia there have been a number of formal government equerries regarding technology and specifically software: http://thenextweb.com/au/2012/04/30...downloads-are-more-expensive-than-in-the-u-s/

Many tech companies pussy footed around trying to justify the clear and significant discrepancies that were being charged, but for once Microsoft was honest and just said they charged what the market would stand, not parity prices between places.

Exactly my piont; if you know the national PPP you can tell if there is an unatural, or rather unfair, markup in cost to the consumer (what the market will bear).

Hey @Archie , I'm in the same boat: my G27 has started losing its center position, surely it's got this problem. I'm having a refund from Amazon if Logitech's support doesn't fix it.
Still unsure what to go for :sos

guys if someone is interested I am willing to sell my T500RS "modified" (85 Watt instead of 65Watt), but with an open case due to the bigger motor including the F1 addon wheel and the DSD adapter using an other wheel. The set it is NOT coming along with the pedals because of the weight. When I am back from holidays I will upload some pictures and a detailed list of all gadgets (and the asking price, but really I dunno what to offer at the moment).
