Hi, I'm planning on building a simple 2 DOF motion simulator. I can get everything I need for it, the only thing I can't find are the linear actuators. Where can I get linear actuators that would be good for this? I have searched around for a couple of days and haven't found anything.

    Hi guys,
Just out of curiosity, can this type of motor be used for 2DOF motion system (like EvanF is building)?
I can`t post exact specs for it, but I know it`s strong enough and it has position feedback.
As you can figure out it`s used for moving satellite dishes.

    Hi Igor,

i bet that actuator is too slow for your concern, unless you want to simulate a ride on donkey and not a 350HP racing car :) As far as our experience goes we need at least 200 - 400 mm/sec actuator speed for realistic effects. If i remember rightly evanF´s sim is faster than 400mm and is known as neck braker due to it´s speed :) Industrial linearactuators with similar characteristics are very expensive, a DIY option is prefered, or just buy the SCN5 bvillersjr mentioned.

    regards, RaceRay

    Thanks for reply Raceray,
I`m aware of slow speed for mentioned actuator but was hoping that with some sort of DIY changes it can be used :(
I was thinking of using the motor and feedback sensor, also use the shaft mechanism, but somehow change or remove the gear box to increase the speed.
I can`t recognize EvanF`s motor type from his video, but it looks to me like he did some DIY adjustments or maybe not.
SCNs are way off my budget, so if you say to forget about Superjack I`ll probably take wiper motors road.
