Like many others I started out with a static sim rig:

But the first rig I ever made was my original compact 2DOF:

Which morphed into my current 3DOF rig in its current guise:

nice i like the modulation factor of a sim where you can just build new parts to it. like button boxes wind simulators etc.

My first rig was a flight simulator. It was a chair on a wooden construction, which was dangling on ropes mounted to the ceiling.
When sitting on the chair, I was able to tilt it forth/back (pitching) and left/right (rolling) by pure muscle power and without any motors.
This pitch & roll movements were captured by a game controller app running on an iPhone that was mounted to the seat.
And this app in turn was connected to the PC and in this way controlling the plane movements.
So by leaning my body to the left, the simulated plane was rolling to the left. And when leaning backwards, the chair’s backwards movement let the plane pitch upwards.
Here are some pictures of this construction.

Yes, correct. And the plane was following my body movements.
