I'm looking at building a lower-end wheel (like the son of OSW but different, belt-driven specifically) and the part I'm blocked at right now is an encoder and a driver for it which is closed-loop. I found mechaduino but I dunno if that's good, since I can't find sufficient reviews of it.

I obviously need it to have a lot of torque steps, or programmable torque stepping.

Best pricing for my project's needs is under $100 each.

(full disclosure that this project is planned for sale if completed and will be targeted at trucksim folk, not racing folk, which is why the parts need to be inexpensive)

As there is a commercial intent this and related questions need to be in the Commercial sector. The Admin @Pit can shift it for you when he gets a spare moment.
