I'm about to sell my Oculus DK2 kit, as it can still be sold at a good price, the "problem" is what will I use to replace it until the Oculus/Vive comercial release?

1-I currently have a 24 inch monitor, and another 22 inches monitor not in use, I can buy another 22' and make a 3 monitor setup.

2-I also have an Optoma HD66 3d PJ that it has a faulty dmd chip (causes to see white and black dots all over the screen), I can get it fixed but it will costs about the same as buying 2 22inches monitors. What it is tempting is to make a relatively little curved screen, (the size of a 3 monitor setup), but I have to read how to and I don't know how good it would be making it as cheap I can and with just one PJ.

3-Buy a cheap LED PJ (800x480 res.) that it costs about the same as a 22 inch monitor and do the same I would do with the fixed Optoma HD66...

    What do you think guys?

    Thanks anyway!

Personally I would not be investing a huge amount of time and money on screen options when consumer grade VR will likely have release announcements in the not too distant future.

I would put up with a dual screen option for a few months, using the 2 screens you already have, and put your money aside for consumer VR.

The thing is that I can get for my dk2 enough to get the consumer VR headset and maybe even a little more... so I won't have to spend much money depending the setup.
You know, VR is a no way back :) it is really difficult to play anything in a monitor and get some immersion after you try vr.

Totally agree, for me neither my projector or monitors come close to VR immersion.

Be quick with the DK2 sale, the price they may fetch at the moment will take a nose dive once consumer VR pre-orders are announced.

they have shot up and doubled in price by looks of it to what they was about 2 mth ago :-( why the hell would you buy one for when the rift cv is coming very soon. i would buy one for cheap money but not for the price of the new version. i'm starting to think some have seen the release about the rift cv and started to look seen them on ebay and prob think they the new versions can only be why the market has gone nuts on them. you would simply wait for release would you not ?
so as noorbeast said not long till the price drops off with a bit of luck then i might get one to tide me by, so you should sell one now if you can to get max amount from them after all if they drop big time then you could still buy it back for half the money then . lol

As Oculus no longer sells the Rift so scarcity is driving demand, hence the elevated prices if someone wants or needs one for any particular reason. They will fall when CV1 pre-orders are announced, which for a Q1 release is not all that far off as long as there are no unexpected delays, as with the Vive.

The problem is that nobody respect release dates... so I doubt we are going to see any cv1 in less than 3 or 4 months

but prob lose 200 plus in 4 mths so costing £50 mth to buy now if that happens.
the smart person would sell now then save the money for the new version.
they was 170 to 250 when i was about to buy in fact i was bidding for them.
now if i find one for £200 1 250 i might just play but if not im not gunna bother till release now.

I doubt Oculus will miss the Q1 release window they have set, they have invested a lot in crafting that timeline and paying for release content.

It is less clear with the Vive as it really seems the 7000 dev kits they are making available in the new year are what would have been used for the 'limited 2015 release' they have been promoting. That seems to suggest there may be some quality or other issues to work through, whereas the Rift design and hardware has been finalised and demonstrated for some time now.
