What am I doing wrong (Arduino burned)

    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, DC motor, Arduino
    Hi,

    I connected everything like described between my motorshield and the Arduino and when putting the 12v supply for the motors on the Arduino started to smoke. I redid all the connections, double checked and my new Arduino got burned again. This is my shield:
    Can somebody tell me how to connect to the Arduino? I have hallsensors also connected to AO and ground and 5v
