So... During a frequent bought of Procrastination while supposed to be studying for my Masters, I thought I'd type in "Motion Simulator" into the Library tool which searches all academic text across the globe.

Anyway, found this rather complicated setup for a VR Hang Glider.

    Here is a Video:

Here is a PDF of the Plans / Thesis... (Lost me after a few paragraphs...)

It does not look that realistic to me in the video, particularly with respect to the bar position being held way out in front of the user, which would normally induce a stall. The basic motion simulator premise is pretty simple though.

It really should have been demoed with something like Landscape Mountains Hang gliding simulator for the Rift:

This was 2010, so pre-rift. They used a very bizarre product from Olympus called the Eye-Trek

On the subject of Rift, does the Rift induce 3D vision, or is it merely 2 screens that your brain combines? Do you get true depth?

I assume you can wear glasses with a Rift?

I ask, because my right eye is weak and I need glasses to make 3D movies work for me, otherwise my vision is fine for daily stuff.
I am so tempted to get the DK2 seeing as CV1 has been pushed back at least another 12 months...
Just not sure it would work for me if wearing glasses...

I have similar antiquated video glasses in my collection, mine are the Vuzix 920s. They are not like the Rift, as there is a limited Field Of View. It is a bit like having a big screen placed in front of you, but the resolution is not that great.

You can wear smaller glasses under the Rift, but I find I don't need mine, though I have astigmatism pretty bad with my right eye, and neither does my 86 year old father. At this stage I would advise hanging off from buying a DK2, consumer VR is not that far off now. I suspect with consumer VR you will have individual eye adjustments and likely be able to get prescription lenses.
