    Hi guys - awesome site!

I have been searching through the site for information on getting started with building a 3dof sim... the designs and so on I have found are excellent, and building the frame is no problem - my problem is with the electronics.

Having never done any kind of electronic control project before, I dont have any idea about what is required to get up and running... I read with some interest a thread on a guy mounting a cessna cockpit, and the K8061 was mentioned; I can get hold of that easily enough, but what else will be required?

I intend to use Xsim software, and wiper motors rather than actuators...

I only wish I was better at soldering, and could have a go at the AVR motion controller, but have killed PCBs by overheating and lifting tracks before - I think a prebuilt board is my only real choice to get started!

Any help or advice to get me started would be superb!

    Tim

oops - Read the thread again, and spotted that the prebuilt k8061 is the Velleman VM140

This definitely seems like the right controller from other articles, but does it connect directly to the motors or do i need to order some other controllers to handle the motors - and will it need pots connecting in to report positions back to the VM140?

These probably seem pretty basic questions for you guys - is there a starter guide like the AVR tutorials anywhere for this kind of controller?
