    Hi all,

I'm trying to find info on the DIY carbon fiber actuators used by @SeatTime and @SilentChill (atleast that's what I belive they use?) but I can't seem to access that part of the forum. Any reason why? And if it's not what they use, which guide should I follow?

Also, what is the main reason to use actuators instead of a motor with a lever?

    Thanks!

    My Motion Simulator:
    AC motor, Motion platform
    There are a few reasons:
    • Motion is linear throughout the actuators length.
    • Most gearboxes have 'play' between the gears so fine movements can be lost, ballscrew basically have none.
    • large movements are possible without reducing torque, which would be the case with long levers.
    • Ballscrews have a much higher efficiency then a worm drive.
See @wannabeaflyer2 excellent actuator design drawings.
