    All,

My biggest problem is space for my simulator. My steering wheel has to be mounted on a desk, I have no other possibility, as a need to use the computer and the room also for work. So, the sim has to be small.

This is the reason why I am thinking of a little different design compared to what we usually see. I would like to integrate completely everything into the base of the seat. Doing this, I can move the seat around in the room, as a usual chair (only pretty heavy :) ), and store it somewhere else when not needed. I have a concept of how to build this, and this I would like to share with you. I would love to hear your opinion on this.

I would like to use the simexperience starter kit, simply because I already have their GS4 seat, which mounts on top of my design. So I can use the sim commander software to run everything. I hope this will save a lot of time, as I am not used to play around with software and controller settings.

So the basis was to use 100mm SCN5 actuators, which I would like to integrate in the base. I want to use an L-link, which reduces the ±50mm stroke of the actuator to ±20mm on the rear of the seat. This will allow for ±5° tilt angle of the seat. The L-link will be (almost) free of clearance, I am planning to use ball bearaings, my machining capabilities at home allow producing high precision, complex components. I am lucky here to be able to produce these things myself.
Also, welding and things like this are no problem for me.

The actuator bottoms will be hindged at their rear or bottom end to the frame. I have already an idea to rubber mount them there, to compensate any shocks coming from the actuation. The actuators will be free of every radial force, by using U-type joints towards the L-link.

Now, what do you think of the concept? Do you see any sticking point in this design? Any comments what else should be considered?

    I really appreciate your comments.

    Thanks

Have you seen the project @GeneralDiDi is currently working on....

He may be able to provide you with some valuable advise regarding the challenges of squeezing everything into such a small space. And I'm certain you would already have seen @noorbeast showroom compact sim?
Regarding your sketches, I think I understand what you're proposing but a couple of labels would certainly help to clarify what your proposing.

Hi @steamtrac - No space - recommend you have a look at building a G-seat - you cannot get anything more compact :) - FI have a look at some of my designs in my build thread.
