Analysis of Web Traffic Data for 2021 vs. 2022

Our web traffic data shows that the year 2022 had a total of 264,843 users, with 256,807 of them being new users. On average, each user had 1.98 sessions, and the average session duration was 3 minutes and 51 seconds. The bounce rate was 60.37%.

When we compare these metrics to the previous year, 2021, we see that there was a decrease in the total number of users and new users. In 2021, there were 313,903 users and 304,714 new users. The average number of sessions per user also decreased from 2.09 to 1.98. However, the average session duration remained relatively unchanged, only increasing by 4 seconds from 2021. The bounce rate increased by 0.71%.

It's important to note that the year 2022 was marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns that followed. The pandemic greatly impacted the global economy and changed the way people consume content online. This could be a possible reason for the decrease in web traffic as people may have had less disposable income to spend on products or services offered on the website, or they may have been more focused on other priorities.

Despite the decrease in web traffic, it's important to focus on the positive aspects of the data. The average session duration remained relatively unchanged, indicating that users who visited the site were still engaged and spending a similar amount of time on the website. Additionally, the number of new users remained relatively high, indicating that the website is still attracting new visitors.

In conclusion, the year 2022 was a challenging year for web traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns that followed. However, the data still shows positive signs, such as a relatively unchanged average session duration and a high number of new users. These metrics indicate that the website is still providing valuable content to its users, and there is potential for growth in the future.

I must say I am not surprised, the stats really reflect a flurry of extra activity once Covid lock downs and travel restrictions were eased, followed by increasing global instability, supply line and inflation constraints.
