Is 10mm flatbar thick enough? I have shafts which output both sides so levers are going on both, otherwise I'd go 16mm or something.

It's a 3DOF AC and the levers are going to be about 18cm between hole centers (for serious angular range)

They didnt have any 10mm so I ordered 12mm off ebay. That's 24mm of thickness for each corner anyway, should be plenty. Nothing wrong with steel but the base and frame are both aluminium, I would use steel for the push rods but otherwise ali is easier to work with and less weight overall.
