The Team X-Sim Racing servers will be offline intermitently for a few hours at a time this week. I will be virtualizing the server so that we can use it for multiple games. The server is rather powerful, and if virtualized, it is capable of supporting about 5 different 20 user games at the same time. I will start with rFactor and Race 07/GTRE because I am most familiar with them. If anyone has a race planned, let me know and I can try to work around that timeframe.

    Hi Berney,

great news :highfive: Can we install LiveView?
    http://liga.simracing.pl/sls_commerc/in ... _Date_desc

I want to add liveview on our server (we can share the scripts, so that the same informations will be inserted in your simcommander site)

I separate parts of the x-simulator website:

One part only for the motion simulator building. Another part is for gaming purposes including track and racing stats.

    regards
    René

    Hi Rene

I assume that you are talking about both live video and race results? Live results are no problem, and I would be happy to help.

I'm not so sure about the live race video. I think that we may be able to come to a reasonable solution here though. I am a big fan of community based software. However, some things simply have a cost associated with them and large amounts of bandwidth consumption is one if them. I'm not sure that I could afford the bandwidth to stream live race video to your server until I start selling some more simulators and making more money.

However, since my web server is local to the Team X-Sim Racing server, I have a 10gb/s connection between them. My website can then condense the video stream to flash and it would consume no more bandwidth than a typic flash movie. That I can afford.

One possible solution would be for you to serve this live video content off of my server, but as an IFRAME so it doesn't look like it's coming from my server. This would allow me to help the community without having to buy more bandwidth. What do you think? Maybe there are other solutions that require less bandwith such as just streaming the race results and not the live video feeds? or possible other less bandwidth intensive video stream solutions?

It just doesn't seem to make sense for me to stream a video stream to you so that you can re-stream it. It is probably best to just server the content right from the source via IFRAME.

    Hi Berney,

that was a missunderstanding. The LiveView Software consists of some modules (standalone and server scripts) to send race information to a website in realtime. It is not a video livestream, although i like the idea of watching live races on the site.

One day we should try your idea. At the latest when bandwith and traffic is absolutely enough... :) I will collect all the information to install and configure the racestatistics in the next days, so hopefully we can push things foward.

Btw. does anybody know phpbb3 well? I am thinking about a clock mod which shows beneath the members avater pictures the calculated local time for oneself.

Just imagine to see the local time of every other!!!...i would love it. Anybody else?

Edit: That only works for loged in users and only works when user gave their correct local time in e.g. CET + 4.

    regards
    René

I see. I would be happy to send the race statistics to you, and it would be great if we could work together to create, modify and publish the scripts.

I thought that you were talking about the portion of the SimXperience Commander that I am currently working on. It live streams races to a webserver where spectators can watch. They can also go in-sim like in real race cars with their in-car camera if the sim driver has a web cam installed over his sim. I've been working on this for a while now. It will not be part of the initial release because I have ALOT of bugs to work out of that streaming video process. It has the potential to consume alot of bandwidth if I am not careful.

I am not concerned about the amount of bandwidth required to send race statistics to you. It should not be much more data than addding an additional driver to a race..it should be sending the positions of all the cars on the map, etc.. the same way it does to a driver in a race presently.

There is more than one LiveView software. The one I think you are refering to is German software...unfortunately, their website does not have much in the way of english instructions, so you may have to help me through the server side implementation.

Very short power failure, but I wasn't here to restart the server software :(

I need to create a script that will automatically start the dedicated server as a service in the event of a power failure and reboot. I will write the script to make sure that this doesn't happen again sometime in the next week or so.
