    From now on xsimulator is running through ssl 265bit encryption. All previous links and resources should be redirected through https and you see the following in your browser:

    True for public postings, but there are use cases where automatic encryption of data is a good idea.

    One of the common reasons for https is a secure pipeline for any financial transactions. But there are many others.

    For example I have used the site PM system to arrange remote login to other member's computers, to help them sort stuff out. That sort of information exchange should be encrypted. Site wide https is a good idea where that and other personal information exchanges may take place, so perhaps it is a personal exchange of contact details or address to visit another member.

    The way I see it there are no real downsides to implementing https site wise, and many possible advantages where basic encryption is a good idea.
