    My Motion Simulator:
    AC motor, 6DOF
    Hello X-Simulator community!

We’re a team of three engineering students, taking part in the Hangar Kampüs Open Innovation Program. Our goal is to develop an affordable, modular 6-DOF motion platform for racing- and flight-sim enthusiasts.

Before we build anything, we need to understand the real-world pains, costs, and trade-offs you’ve already faced. The questions below follow The Mom Test principles: they focus only on your past experience and hard numbers—no “Would you buy?” or sales talk. You can reply directly in this thread or via private message.

Your answers will be used solely for problem discovery. You will not receive any ads or sales offers.

    Question Set
    1. Roughly what percentage of your total budget went to motion hardware (actuators, controllers, power supplies, etc.)?

    2. What was the last component that failed or went out of calibration? How much did the fix/replacement cost, and how long was your rig down?

    3. During the build, which step ate up the most time or motivation?

    4. On a typical week, how many minutes do you spend on maintenance/calibration, and what tasks does that cover?

    5. If you’d had to cut your original budget by 20 %, which hardware item would have been the first to go?

    6. Including driver + seat + accessories, what’s the heaviest total payload you’ve put on the platform, and how did it handle?

    7. Have you ever considered moving from 3 DOF to 6 DOF? If yes, what stopped you?

    8. When friends try your rig for the first time, what limitation do they point out first?

    9. In the past 12 months, how many hours per week on average has your rig run real driving/flying sessions?

    10. For any motion-specific parts you bought, what was your longest lead time and how did that delay the project?

    11. Have you ever said, “I wish my rig could reproduce this physical sensation…”? If so, what was it?
