Hey all. just registered to the forums after researching some simpits and ended up looking at motion simulators also, ending up on this great source of info.
However, and i might get bashed because of it, due the years the community is up and all the info posted, i thought it would be easier to ask around the experts instead of searching years of information in the forums.

I plan to build a simpit in pvc tubbing, little by little as my money can afford. Due the pandemic i had to use alot of my savings to stay afloat and now i cant afford big expenses all at once, also because i dont have a well paying job lol. Main use for it will be driving and flying, but nothing too stressful or fast. By this i mean i plan to play stuff like euro truck sim, american truck sim, maybe some racing games such as asseto corsa, and for flying i play quite often a space sim name "elite:dangerous".

    my questions are as follow....
1- Could i later on build a base and rig it with hardware to support the pvc frame and have it as a motion platform? I will add extra support to the simpit frame so it can hold my weight better, or build a solid metal frame to sit underneath the pvc one, all things to consider.....
2- considering both driving and flying, how many DOF would you suggest but trying to keep it as simple as possible? consider that i do not play in VR, only have 2 screens at the moment (different sizes and brands) but hopefully i can go for a 3 screen setup in the future.
3- Would a tool such as the flypt mover be enough to set the rig up, or would i need something more advanced as the simtools software?
4- If i assemble something in the lines of the joyrider pvc build shown at acesim website (dont know if im allowed to post links as being my 1st post, but google the site, should come up easy), would it make it easier to convert into a motion rig?

thanks in advance for any input and help.

You have come to the right place, the community here is very active, creative and knowledgeable.

There are other options, such as a motion driven race harness, but most would consider a 2DOF rig a good budget entry point, though far more complex rigs are possible.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started, in particular check out the SimTools, fundamentals of motion and the design sections: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

You can also search for specific types of projects/information using the Google Custom Search function on the Recent page, including past Joyrider rigs that have been converted for motion: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

Both SimTools and Flypt are slightly different approaches to a similar goals, SimTools is easier to setup but Flypt can offer a great deal of fine tuning and control.

thanks for the tips noorbeast, will get a bit more depth into it.
im not looking for something too big, 6dof sounds great but i dont have the space or money for it lol. maybe a 3dof might be enough, specially for the space sim feeling.
