I have just swapped my sim over to a new computer

the actuators seem to be a bit lively and dont sit still

opening up the SMC3 util program shows a noisy potentiometer trace

the pots are hall effect multi turn

the problem can be shown in the attached image

so the only new thing is the computer - Am I right to assume this noise is from the PC power supply going into the usb ?

has anyone had a similar problem and how did you cure it ?

(I have tried an isoltated USB hub and the problem still seems to be there)

While possible I am more inclined to think some cables got moved and may be the source of interference.

So check cable management and pot connections and consider clip on ferrite magnets, if you are not already using them, and see if any of that makes a difference.

Hi Noorbeast - you were right

the computer was plugged in to the same power cable as before, but I was using an extension lead with a usb hard drive caddy, the power supply was not earthed and was giving off a lot of noise - unplugged the coiled up extension and the usb/drive/power supply -- problem gone :)

When the actuators seem a little lively , it's already bad, try to avoid it

Thank you! I didn't immediately understand that it was just a cable and began to listen to the power supply.
