Hi guys, I had a topic with my old 2dof with geared motors, but it's few months that I have completed my new rig, with an SFX-100 system.
    From the 3d render:

    At the current Rig:

I did a lot of tests for the active belts with 2 gearmotors driven with SimTools, but besides the normal backlash obviously present in the gearbox motors, there was also a certain, really annoying delay that contrasted the immersion, so I opted for the belts fixed at the base below, with 2 really rigid springs.

Unfortunately, at the moment I only mount a single monitor, as having returned the HP Reverb, due to various factory problems, I am waiting for a new VR at the height, for the moment I get enough of this 27 "2k.

Pedals of my creation, as well as the Wind Simulator and button box.

Inside the feet where the SFX-100 rests, I added several layers of insulation, mounting 10 transducers on the ring also, including LFE, Mini LFE and BassPump III.

And the result is remarkable, almost no ground vibrations, the most intense SFX-100 shocks, of course, can still be heard, but it is impossible to remove them.

This is the actual state of the belt tentioner:
Almost all designed and 3dprinted by myself
    [IMG]

200W geared motor, with 43A IBT-2, and of couse adrduino board

I choose SMC3 to manage the motor, I always like it.
See you soon with, some news. :D

Guys I have a question, I downloaded simtools 2, but I can't download plugins, do they always work with coins? Or do I have to pay?
    Thanks.

Sorry another stupid question, why my Axis Assignments, in game engine are grey and not selectable?

in interface settings I think I have selected everything correctly, fot the 43A IBT-2

Maybe not work properly because i have only one 43A IBT-2?

Being greyed out is not normal, perhaps @yobuddy can advise.

Ok I reinstalled simtools, and now I don't why it allows me to select "generic 2D..."

only that simtools fails to communicate with the motor, if I go to "output testing" and try to move the various sliders nothing happens, the same in game.

The Default profile needs to have a % allocation for each axis.

See here for tips on how to refine motion profiles: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

    Hi Guy's,

There is no "axis type" selected is the problem here, please select an "axis type" on the right and the settings will unlock.

    Take care,

Guys, I installed 2 ibt-2 in parallel, but unfortunately the belt tensioner always cut the current, and i need to disconnect and reconnect the usb very often especially with cars that brake a lot, like formula, if I decrease again the values in SMC3 the belts become too slow.
So on which motor driver can I orient myself? A sabertooth 2x32 is a bit wasted, as I only need one channel, is there a sabertooth with a single channel compatible?

Hi @dedraro if i remember correctly dimension engineering do a single or did a single high current driver or you can search for an MDO3 motor controller i have one bbut need to take picture to show you ...will post Pic later

Why not use another AASD-15A servomotor for the belt? You can torque them a lot, up to 300% without alarms or other issues.

it would be great, thanks I wait for the photos
    Price :D
At the moment I'm implementing another motor to "tighten" even the 2 low belts, I already had these motors and itb-2 around the house (my first 2dof seat moving system) to get dust, so I use them, but spend € 600-700 for the belt system for me is too much.

Of course... But remember the DC motors are not designed to torquing. When you torque them you stall them and the stall current is probably too much, much more than the itb-2 driver can handle (almost a SHORT).

Perhaps you could use a flexible material to emulate torque depending on the motor position instead hooking up the belts directly to the motor...

I didn't know this, it's new to me thanks for the info, so I have to try if the situation improves with springs, or with elastic bands like gym ones.

So this is what I designed to have a system that slightly dampens under the hardest braking

are two springs per side inside the two supports, and that pole that will go behind the belts,
which I hope will dampens and not stall the motor.
I'm currently printing them, I'll update you soon.

    Printed

    And assembled

Tomorrow I'll mount it on the rig and see if it actually makes sense, it definitely has a damper effect, I'll update you

I finally managed to make it work! I decreased the main level % down up to 80%, but unfortunately I had not yet solved it, so I realized that the ibt-2 disconnected only when I had the SFX-100 turned on, and from there I understood that it was an EMI problem.
So I shielded the cables of the potentiometer by adding adhesive aluminum film and ferrite filters, and used a USB cable always shielded with ferrite filters, and it finally seems to work great!
    [IMG] [IMG]

Now I can use them at very high values without any problems :D
