I am thinking about constructing the above rig. I intend to place the center of gravity (CV joint) directly between the seat and pedals to limit the range of motion at the front and back. The screens will remain stationary.

Are SCN5's suited to this task?

I also need information on an alternative to the actuator mounting kit. I can use aluminum profile as supports but require details of the swivel mounting joints between frame and actuator.

    Thanks

There have been projects just like this if you look in the appropriate section.

To give you a quick answer, you really have to balance the platform to make it work with SCN5's.
Even then you might wear them out faster due to the increased weight and inertia.

    Thanks Frakk,
Can you point me to the appropriate section or giv me the name of post to start with? This is my first real attempt at a motion sim platform.

    All the best

Yeah i did that and it work very well, im gonna make a video soon to show you. im still a beginner but i tink it came out fine, bether than i extexted.

but dont put the pivot in the center of the pedal and the seat but under your butt a bit forward 2 inch from your butt hole, you got way more weigh in the seat than in the pedal,, my wheel is fixe to the pedal but if if was fixe closer to the pivot it would be beter i tink, good luck ,its wort it belive me

    My Motion Simulator:
    3DOF, SCN5, SimforceGT
    Hi
    i had the same problem.
The only manufacturer I could find is this one
    JJ Bearing in China!
So I found a DIY solution for the Rod ends .
Made out of a pair of coupling bars from an VW for 12€ both
and a screw tap for 10€. Never had any need for m10x1,25 bevor, so i bought them on Ebay.
There are some Pics in my Gallery!

Works great, no backlash, smooth and enough angle alignment.
But be careful when welding, immediate cooling is recommendet!

    regards
    kai

To build a rig with moving seat, pedals and wheel. Would it be the best to do this with SCN5 150 mm?
I am planning to build a simulator like this.

I already own a Frex system, now i want to build a rig based on x-simulator and feel the difference.

I would suggest the 150mm because you can then use the limiter to get an extra safety buffer so you dont damage the actuators while experimenting with your design.
