Question Rig Balancing Tool Concept

    Hi everyone, I’m designing my first motion platform and have a ton of ideas, but I want to see if some of them are too “out there” to try.
    One of the challenges I’m facing is perfectly balancing the platform, especially when the load can change. Here’s the situation:
    My rig will have two modes:
    1. Racing simulator – with steering wheel and pedals.
    2. Enhanced video playback – no wheel or pedals, so I want to make it easy to remove those components.
    The problem is, if I balance the platform for one setup, it’s completely different for the other. On top of that, with motors connected, you can’t manually test balance because the worm gears lock the motors in place.

    Here’s my idea:
    • Use an amperometer to detect the current used to move the platform in different directions.
    • When the currents are similar—for example, front vs. rear pitching—the platform is balanced.
    • A simple LED bar could show the level of balance.
    • Ideally, I could press a button to start an Arduino routine that tests all directions and displays the balance.
    • Then, with rails under the seat, I could move it forward or backward to compensate.
    Does this sound too crazy, or is it a reasonable approach?

    Thanks so much! Well at least this confirm was not a stupid idea . There are some good info in this forum. I just need to learn how to find them.
