Recently purchased a HTC Vive and realized i want motion badly. Love this site and have decided a 2dof would be good enough for me. Couple of questions though...

Any US suppliers for motors? I see a lot of over sees info but not a lot for the US.

Seats, any recommendations on seats that are comfortable and decently priced. Love sparco and racaro seats but they cost a lot.

OK so the 25:1 geared motor is better for torque and the 50:1 is geared for faster movment? I'm looking to pick up a pair between these two, but which one or both would be ok for a 300lbs [136kg] person? I'm planning on having this in an arcade (2 DOF) setting and would like it to be functional for some of my plus size friends.

    Other way around ;)

I can't speak to which one would suit your needs best since I don't know exactly the kind of sim you're building

I'm planning on a 2DOF platform driving simulator. Driven by Aruduino, monster moto, and probably a server PSU.

Both of the motors that noorbeast listed are the usual recommended choice for 12V DC 2DOF simulators that use the MM as a driver. However the type of platform you want to build will determine which one you should use.

If you want to mount the motors underneath the seat, as shown here:
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/dx-compact-simulator.5866/
then you're better off with the 50:1 gearboxes most likely.

If you want to mount the motors at the shoulder (usually the most recommended design for new builders),
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/cxc-inspired-design.7709/
then the 25:1 motors are the popular choice.

50:1 would work for a simulator like that, yes. Definitely keep us posted, lots of pictures are always encouraged!

Thank you, this information has solved the problem of motor selection
