I have been wanting an OSW for quite some time. With the recent release of Granite Devices Simucube and a very fortunate find on an MIGe 130ST-15015 10000ppr (big MIGe), I will be putting one together. The Simucube integrates a lot of the individual parts onto one motherboard. This results in what is supposed to be a much easier process due to the reduced number of components. The major parts (not including connectors and other bits) are reduced to four. I am following the build thread bruteforce3 in Iracing http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/3491567.page

@Pit, it's the one recommended by beano. It's scales to over 700 watts 15amp peak. Also this psu supports parallel power sharing to over 3800watts rms 7+1. So if it's not enough I'll add accordingly. The ioni pro Hc is rated to 25amps. The 960 is not an option for me due to 120v power restriction.

Cool I was a little concerned. At 150.00usd each I was not looking forward to buying another. Thank you for your warning @Pit .

nice custom build mate. cant wait to get mine however i just bought a kit just in case i done something wrong lol.
i like that blueHID. that is something i would probably look into just incase the wheel went mental and spun out of control ripping out the cable.

i will only be using the wheel for a while while i dismantle my rig for a redesign but its not a 5 minute job. thats the main reason for getting a descent wheel so i would still enjoy playing without motion.

Hi @bruce stephen . would you happen to have the dimension that you made that spacer which holds your Blue HID bc. Its not urgant as will use a cable for a while until i get the plasma set up. I dont have a 3d printer but i can make one from 8mm Aluminium plates and stack them up to form the unit.
Also how does the battery perform on this, do you get a few hours before requiring a recharge?
Do you connect every button to the pins in pairs, and would this also work with rotary encoders? It does look a fanstastic bit of kit for the price.

@crammy i used acrylic for the spacer/circuit box. 5 pieces of 3/16inch to a combined thickness of 15/16". i didnt save the files but plan on recreating them. when i do ill post them. i have a 1000mah lipo and have only charged it once since i built the wheel so prolly 30 hours of racing between charges. plus if it dies you can run it with a cable while it charges but i havent had to. loosing the cables is good, they wear out quickly and are prone to failure at the most inopportune moments. you can connect in pairs or chain them you can set almost any pin as a ground also. this little board is amazing. here is an excerpt from the manual that explains it in more detail.

All modern OSes support a number of "native" HID devices using in-built drivers.
The Blue HID board appears as the following HID devices on the PC:
    •Keyboard
•Gamepad (including analog and digital controls)
    •Mouse
    •LED or logic level outputs
The way in which the board emulates natively-supported devices means it requires no special drivers or host software, with the exception of LED output
control. The board has 36 connections which can be configured “over the air” to any of these HID device types providing a truly universal Bluetooth I/O interface. For example, you can connect pushbuttons to generate keyboard keystrokes, trackballs to act as a mouse, pedals to act as analog game controller joysticks, or hundreds of other device types. The host will see all the devices as something it recognises, so all standard applications will work.
The board can also be used to control LEDs or other devices. Connections can be assigned as:
    •Keyboard key
    •Gamepad Button
    •Gamepad POV Hat
    •Gamepad analog axis
•Gamepad analog axis with auto calibration and dead zone
    •Mouse button (including double-click)
•Quadrature Mouse Pair. X or Y axis. Normal or reverse direction.
    •Quadrature left/right button presses.
•Host-controlled LED output using special software
    •PC Num/Scroll/Caps lock LEDs
•BlueHID locally-controlled LED output based on the state of any switch.
    •5 Volt output (20ma max)
    •Ground

so your encoders will work too.

Hi @bruce stephen is there a step by step guide using the blu hid ? I'm sure I had it on a saved page somewhere but can't seem to find it again. If not I'll sort it somehow :)
