Congratulations with the launch of this product guys!

I have just one question: I couldn't find any license information. Maybe I overlooked something. What is the license type of SimTools?

Thanks for your answer. My interest is in clarity about the license. Not directly for myself but for Yobuddy and the community. Releasing software without any explicit license is generally not a great idea. Laws differ in different countries and the software/copyright could be subject to resale and rebranding by not so well meaning persons. Stating an explicit license mitigates those risks, whatever the license may be. I mean, is it open source? If so, under which license? GPL, BSD, MIT, Creative Commens? Or is it closed source? Free for personal use and licensed for commercial? I don't mean to criticize, well I do actually, but in a constructive manner.

Personally I hope it's open source, it has many advantages, but that is not up to me and I'll accept it either way. The fact that the result of all the hard work that has gone into SimTools and that it's available for free is awesome in itself. I'm gratefull for that, so thank you very much to all that are involved!

@yobuddy, what is your opinion on this, if I may ask?

@danalog thanks for pointing that out. Because of the complexity of the available licences out there, we are still in the evaluation phase of finding a proper licence model.

What i can tell you so far:
    • Its allowed to use SimTools for private use
    • Your are free to give it away to any person but you are not allowed to sell it.
    • You have to link to the original download place when you give it away
    • Its not allowed to use it for any commercial aspect without the permission of the author Dustin Arrel
    • Its not open source
All this statements are without obligation and can be changed by the author.

If you have experience in software licensing we appreciate your support.
