It is still hard to tell when the likes of Assetto Corsa will be updated to the latest Oculus runtime. Hence it is likely that a runtime switcher will be needed for a while yet.

The latest Oculus Runtime Switcher V2 was released today and supports win 7\8\8.1\10:

That very discussion is playing out on Reddit at the moment: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/47cth9/oculus_runtime_switcher_v2_supports_win_788110/

I have not tried it at this stage, though that is more because I am not interested in any runtime switcher, I have put things like Assetto Corsa aside for VR some time ago and don't run any similar legacy games or applications that don't use Oculus V0.8.

The compiled files come up clean, but the author has not released source files, the Reddit discussion degenerated around the author being Russian:
