Well just woke my misses up to say is it ok to bid on something for my sim n she says yes, so i bloody did :)
I set a deal up with a chap for Buy it Now on the oculus rift d2 at his start bid, i do hope i can get it to work tho when it gets here as its gunna be quite confusing. guess its more stuff i gotta check out ! doh.
I want to run it in ac and iracing mainly tbh.
I know the new ones out next year but couldn't resist for a couple hundred quid as i might not like it yet so if its ok for me the new one will be on the cards next year.

are they hard to get running as i have no idea ?

The DK2 is a developer model so it does take a bit of messing around to get the most out of it.

For Assetto Corsa you need to use the older 0.6 Oculus runtime, as extended mode is not supported in the later Oculus runtimes. See here for a guide to setting up the Rift with Assetto Corsa: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/tweak-assetto-corsa-for-the-oculus-rift.155/

Live For Speed has excellent native Rift support.

I would recommend trying Prepar3D using Flyinside and the Rift: https://flyinside-fsx.com/Products

Similarly, NoLimits 2, motion and the Rift is awesome.

Elite Dangerous is great, but they keep breaking the motion support.

War Thunder is a blast fest with great scenery and they have just fixed basic rift support in the latest update. It also needs to be run in extended mode with the 0.6 Oculus runtime.

DCS has improved Rift support in the recently released Open Beta.

I signed up to iRacing and the Rift is only supported up to SDK 0.6 which is no good to me as I'm now on 0.8 and cant be bothered with the SDK changer. They probably will update it once it gets to SDK 1.0.

I should of checked before I signed up but it was only $49 for a year so not all is lost.

Rift SDK 1.0 just shipped out to developers along with final hardware so I think AC will be updated to 1.0 and the DK2 does support 1.0 though it's not out to the public just yet. TBH I'm hope for pre-orders before 2016, but CES in January is more likely. They are ready for their Q1 2016 launch. Anyway I don't think you will have to much problem with it. Grab the latest runtime and sdk then grab a runtime switcher so you can change to 0.6 and run AC.

OK I went and grabbed Pcars and picked up Time Machine as well, as I know some guys with disabilities who would get a real kick out of VR dinosaurs. The downloads will kill my snail like Internet connection until Xmas day.

as far as I know yes they changed it so you can use another computer with your account but only your account will have the game. and it can only be used 1 computer at a time to play it.
they was working on a family thing but not sure what it is.
