News Oculus releases then pulls SDK 0.6

    Guess things didn't go as planned, today Oculus releases then pull SDK 0.6: http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/35yzua/oculus_pc_sdk_0600_beta_released/

    Goes to show that plenty can still go wrong in the lead up to consumer VR.

    The SDK 0.6 is a massive upgrade. One of the things I will be looking forward to is that it allows for Extended mode to support screen mirroring, which helps with public demos with the many games that do not yet support direct mode, like AC, P3D, War Thunder and many others.

    I have downloaded but not installed the update as my sim is in bits and some are reporting issues with Assetto Corsa, Elite Dangerous and ET2. I think I will wait a bit until I am sure those and others like NL2, DCS, P3D and War Thunder are actually confirmed as working.

    The SDK6 implementation got layers and compositor, for a game like Elite dangerous it could help with text readability: rendering the HUD at extra resolution without rendering the game at the same resolution. It's a major step in the right direction for consumer version 1 of the rift
