    Hello all,

I have been reading so many posts and projects and I cant believe how much great work is going on. I have had VR since Oculus DK1 and I am interested in making a Go-kart platform.

I have access to an inexpensive Go-kart frame and seat. $150 CDN. So that is a bonus. I will likely trim off the excess tubes I don't need and use that for my frame.

Here are a few pics on what I have in mind and a question about acceleration/braking.

I am also real curious about how much motion you really need with VR. I fly on xplane quite a bit with the oculus and I definitely feel like I am moving quite a bit. I am thinking less might be more in VR but I have never tried a motion platform before. I also don't like what I am reading about tracking with the oculus, that scare me a little.

    Thoughts?

    Ivan

What I am using now. I used my projector to trace the seating position of an F1 car and voila. It was supposed to be temporary but it has been around for 2 years now lol.

Your guess is correct, fast precise movement is more important in VR than large axis movements.

    Thanks Noorbeast.

Ok so VR is about smaller movements. I am considering something like this.

Does Simtools work in a design with 4 actuators on the corners?

What do you think of the DIY Actuators in the picture below with some wiper motors?
    https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/cheap-actuator-design.9508/

I can get a wiper motor for $22 CDN any car or truck from the junk yard. Is there a particular car or truck I should look for i.e. f150, dodge ram, semi truck? I understand some wiper motors don't have a ground wire, or maybe there are other consideration. I can afford new but I would like to re-use/recycle what I can.

    Thanks in advance!
