have ordered ardunio & MM going this route following Pits unit winch motors on their way as well I am from New Zealand I run a rally car 2wd Impreza for fun, good skid car and it is so expensive to run so want to get my kicks from sim without having to fix & pay the big repair bills quick & easy to hit reset button LOL:)

    Welcome @trev mac.

@Pit's rig can certainly deliver pretty responsive kicks, so not a bad build to follow for some hard core racing action.

Nice to see you want to go the winch route, but winches are noisier than other worm gear motors due to the planetary gear. The big advantage of winches is the worth of cost, they are moving very reactively and responsively, they are very strong but slow (23 - 30 rpm outout) so you need a long lever (more than 10cm). The advantage of the long lever the winches need only a short turn to shake the seat and are less noisy. Furthermore you can reduce the noise by doing some actions explained in the FAQ.

yes the price was really why I wanted to go this way
noise well turn the volume up race cars are noisy anyway plus its going in the mancave when completed I am currently reading lots on the forum pages about rigs I currently have a basic static rig that has adjustable pedals & steering platform which I would like to utilize I hope later I can pick your brain on issues that I come across I am not to clever on the electronic front I can solder ok and I can weld & build things eg: my rally car

Ergo no issues to expect :) BTW if I raise the volume of my speaker to a moderate level the noise of the rig will be "eliminated".

well after nearly 2 years buying and building I am getting closer to finishing my rig I have added some pictures of my build so far the frame is not finished properly I have change from using moto monster drivers as they were clones and after a lot of faulty units I am using ibt2 which works ok on the bench test I am using rufus software to run my tests also not doing traction loss just yet

april 2017 was last post since then have changed the complete rig to wantabe & silentchillie linear actuators making a 6dof I had to much backlash with those winch motors so I converted the motors for the linear with a 2-1 ratio on the pullies motor has plenty of torque but not enough rpm hence the ratio will post later the set up am now currently trying to make the whole thing move bloody wires every where using 1 battery & led power supplies I see silentchillie has a new project looks like I jumped the gun and made these linear actuators to soon when you look at his new build never mind get this up and running and if is ok then MkII could go in there direction
