    Hello all,
My name is Eddie from Navarre, Florida. I am a retired USAF fighter mechanic. I am disabled now with nothing but time on my hands so I enjoy building things. I just finished building a 3d printer from scratch so now it's time to build a motion simulator. I pre-ordered the new Oculus Rift virtual headset for realistic simulation. I built a monster computer for all out gaming. I came to this forum in hopes to get enough knowledge to build a simulator for racing and flying as I enjoy both. I plan on building one out of aluminum tubing as I have a tubing bender and welder. I have seen plenty of good diy simulators on here and hope to make one from all the ideas Ive seen. If anyone has suggestions feel free to let me know. I look fwd to posting pics of the simulator I build.

I haven't seen many simulators made out of aluminum tubing, but that is a great way to go if you have the skills and the tools to work with it. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

There is a trade-off when making a sim for both flying and racing. Flying works well with big, slower motion, while racing is better with short/fast motion. I'm not even done with my sim yet, and I'm already questioning my decision to optimize my design for flying. But I'll see how that works out once it is done.
