This is my first time joining something like this. My first question is (what is an avator). I suppose I should introduce myself. I am 62 years old and a want to be pilot (don't have the money to get a pilots licence) so I have discovered flight simulators (not the same as real flying but good fun). I have Microsoft flight simulator x and xplane 10. My set up so far is three screens and an Xrocker seat. I would like to move forward and build a motion platform and lift the experience of flying a bit higher.
Hope I have done this correct and look forward to speaking with you lot.

    Welcome @Wayne.dopper.

I get were you are coming from. My father is currently the oldest student pilot in Australia, with flying being his lifelong dream. He also enjoys flight simulation for all the time he can't do the four hour round trip for flight training lessons.

An avatar is a picture that represents your online persona/interest/passion, whatever that may be.

You have come to the right place for DIY motion simulation. SimTools is a great bit of motion control software and supports an ever increasing number of game titles, including the two you already have. You will also find the community here is very active, helpful and knowledgeable. People give freely of both their time and expertise to make creating your own motion simulator possible.

To start have a poke around existing member projects for some inspriation, keeping in mind that your criteria is flight simulation: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

Then have a look at the FAQ section, as it covers different aspects of motion simulation in some detail: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

Do ask lots of questions, as you try and figure what may suit you, as you formulate a design, before you order anything and during your build. You will find that members advice can save you plenty of angst, time and money.
