I am taking delivery of a 2DOF motion rig in the morning. I know it uses Simtools Pro because it is part of the package I purchased. I came here to download it in advance but it is asking for coins to do it. Will the package i get have some sort of license that I can put in so i can immediatly download it? Thanks and looking forward to being part of the community here!

I'm a n00b myself, but you download simtools from www.simtools.us

You download plugins from here, either using forum coins or by buying a subscription.

You earn coins by posting to the forum (no spam)

AHHHHH...ok. I bought a pro license for simtools so I thought i had access to that. Guess not. Ok so my question would be, do you need to have the plug-ins or can you just adjust everything yourself. Just wondering. Thank you!

See here to understand the commercial relationship between SimTools (motion software) and Xsimulator.net (community who provide help and create plugins): https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-and-xsimulator-partnership-explained.275/

Yes you do need plugins, they extract the data from the game for SimTools to use.

But you also have to create motion profiles for each game to take advantage of the data, here is how: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

There is a specific thread in the Commercial section for the DOF Reality rigs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/low-cost-2dof-3dof-motion-simulator-dof-reality.8570/

Which includes a link to motion profile settings for some of the most popular games:

Ok then. SO I do have to have the plug ins. I figured once you bought the license that was it. So i need to pay for the plugins...then tailor the motion seperatly. Ok I think I have it somewhat understood.

Thank you for the information. Im sure i'll have additional questions.

Commercial vendors should really be making the software and plugin access clear to customers, before they buy, so they are fully informed from the onset.

The SimTools dev @yobuddy is working on a way for commercial vendors to pre-bundle pre-configured plugins with their commercial rigs and as I understand it DOF Reality are likely to be one of the first users when that is completed.

The DOF Reality thread is pretty detailed and active. So you have the benefit of other owners answering your questions when posting to that thread, as well as the wider community.
