I came across this last night while surfing. I am not sure I understand everything but this new micro controller looks excellent for our use.

    Intel Galileo

It is a 100% Arduino compatible project board (program it using Arduino IDE, Arduino language, libraries, etc).

It looks as if you could get 6DoF off of one controller.

    Features:

    32bit Intel Quark Processor

12bit analog inputs (six of them)

14 digital input/output pins (six can be used for PWM)

Arduino Uno configuration so Uno shields plug right in.

Price is about 60.00 USD. Not at all bad considering what you get.

To use a sledge-hammer to crack a nut. :grin
IMHO :nerd - 6 channels of 10-bit ADC and 8-bit PWM enough for good 6-dof controller based on Arduino UNO

Ale, I agree with you but one of the biggest arguments against the Arduino for using with motion sims is the 8 bit processor and 8 bit analog inputs. As well as a the slower processor speed of course. Hense the interest in the SimAxe project. Wouldn't this micro controller be a better choice? Easier to program (no need for a special cord), pre-assembled, more pre-coded projects out there to borrow from, etc. Again, I am not knowledgeable enough to say it will or will not, I just wanted to open discussion.

Yes, 8 bit processor wit 10-bit analog input.

I have nothing against this processor, as well as against any other ones.
I say more - here we can see one more alternative :cheers

Just personally, I move to the next microcontroller when clearly shows that the previous generation did not cope with the task.

Or this http://www.xmos.com/startkit less than $15.00

I've got one, and can donate it to someone who wants to have a go at 6dof, with output to the Sabertooth h bridge.

    Please ?

    regards Terry

Good luck fellas sounds interesting, Im heading in the Axe direction but only a 2dof, bugger.
Keep us all informed a better Ard motion driver would be a cool thing to add to the site, Cheers.
