    Hello,
i have a few question about USB interface:
    1. I need description of USB connect to interface, because my experiments broke my motherboard.

    2. Where is capacitor c7? He is on part list, on layout1-3.pdf but he has no place on plate and I don’t see him on schaltplan

    3. I don’t know, maybe I doing something wrong, when I connect card, system says: I’ve found unknown hardware I try to install drivers but it still doesn`t work :(

    Sorry for my English
    Thanks for help

    Hi Maciek

    Welcome to our forum!

The SMD caps C6 and C7 are located here.

I know, C7 isnt marked in the layout, but it has not affected any problems with your mainboard anyway.

Have you soldered on your interface while the USB interface was plugged in your PC, eventually?

Have you connected the USB cables correctly? Black, white and green? Is there no shortcut under the R19 for sure?

Have you used 22pF caps for C1 and C2 for sure? They look similar to the 100nF and have no marking on them. Once I've got wrong caps from a local electronics shop sold.

    regards
    ego

Could you publish a high resolution pic of your interface?

The red lead of the USB cable has no use. Black is ground, white is PIC pin 15 and green is PIC pin 16.
If you had asked us before, you havent had to toture your interface ;)

Cool, thats a wonderful example how the Interface 1.3 could be assembled without smd parts. Except the EEPROM.
BTW, there is a non SMD version of it available as well.

Which etching method have you used?

    It should be like this

There is somthing wrong with your pot connection. The leads to the PIC have to be connected both.

You soldered a wire to a place, where is no connection to the board!? This solder spot is just to fix the slider pot more stable.

    Look like it should be...

    i check your sugestions

and I`m affraid everything its ok.... :(
Even if it does not look on it

    >> Which etching method have you used?
    what means etchig?

if you ask about plate making method
is thermo transer foil and laser printer
and some chemicals, i don`t remember names...

i have another question, about eprom
my is so small, and documentation on net is so poor - i`m not sure where is 1-st pin. is interface will work without this eprom? (i try to eliminate errors) its ok for me if i loose everytime calibration settings.

one more time sorry for my english

That means your interface has usb connection already?

The EEPROM saves the calibrated pot values. But your interface can connect to your pc without the EEPROM too.

The EEPROM has PIN 1 on the side with the cutted edge. The cutted edge hast to point to GND.
You could use a non-SMD EEPROM as well (ST 24C02 BN6).

    unfortunatly no

just remove eprom, check C1 and C2
    and other things
    and still doesn`t work

another OT question: is a big different between RnR USB and Vellman in use?
in use with two ventils on each muscle? are soft motion is better on velleman than RnR USB?

For the connection to the pc are important:

    1. USB cables (green, white, black)
    2. Quartz (6mhz)
    3. C1,C2 (22pF) and C3 (100nF)
    4. PIC
    5. R19 (1,5k)

If these 5 points are ok, then you have connection!

Have you programmed the PIC by yourself?

There is no difference between both interfaces regarding the softmotion or the response time.

The 1.3 interface is better to mount it on a RnR Simulator because it has the matching connectors for the pics and the valve block.

Do you have 5V behind the voltage controller?

Does the voltage controller get hot?

    Hi sirnoname and egoexpress,

My name is guillermo and I'm from Argentina.
I'm building the RNR Interface 1.3 and testing it with leds (to emulate the valves).
I didn't build the board yet, I wanted to test it before in a protoboard.
My proto is half working now and here I found some things I was missing (THE POTS!!!!).

    My questions are
    - What pots do I need here, cause in the parts list they are missing.
    - Is there an R=1,5K between PIN14 and PIN15 of the PIC ? (I'm talking about R19)

I uploaded some images to check if what I'm going to do is OK.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Guillermo.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the answer.
I used a programmer for PIc I have with WinPic800.
I tested it with the RNR13Tester, and the Transistors work; but when I click on calibrate button, it seems to hang.
As soon I move the pots from one end to the other, the app work again.

    Another question....
    As I read here http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/post348.html#p348
The pots are used not only for calibration, but also to know where the chair is positioned.
I wonder, how you attach the pots to the chair, so that, as the chair moves, the pots change values.

Another, I test with the pots connected, and now is doing some more stuff!!.
As I move the joystick, the leds turn on, as the valves in the future, I hope jeje.

    Thanks again!!.
    Guillermo.
