I am using 2 Dyadic SCN5 actuators with my motion control software, RFactor, Live For Speed and City Car Driving. So far only got motion on Rfactor but only one actuator. Using TTL serial sub adapter.

Looks nice! Are you running two simulators side by side? Also it looks like you have a second set of ball joints higher up. Is that for switching between two configurations?

Hi, yes exactly right. This simulator is on a pivot with 2dof, the other is going to be on a spring and have 3dof. The other ball joints are for different motors.

Hi @Trevdebow , great looking sim so far.

Could you tell me if this is a commercial sim that you are developing for sale? If so I can move this thread to the proper forum section. This section is for DIY rigs.

    Again, great looking rig.

No not for sale,l am looking at different technologies ie motive power, graphics, telemetry retrieval, and degrees of motion algorithms. Also having great fun in designing the rigs.

Hi @Trevdebow, as far as I can see you are using a SimXperience kit. Not really DIY so I am going to move this to the commercial section.

Please do keep us up to date on your rig, I am sure we would all like to see how it comes out.

    Hi Historiker
It's great that you see my rig as being bought complete, but I used Solidworks to design this and got it welded up at work . The universal joint under the chair comes from a Lorry. The rig its self is fully adjustable, please have a closer look. The basic design concept came from SimXperience so I guarantee this is not for sale. The second of my rigs I will use a car front suspension spring for the centre mount to get the heave DOF. I will design Further cad on the first rig to achieve loss of rear traction.

Hi Trevdebow, as I mentioned above "you are using a SimXperience kit". Actuators, electronics to control the actuators and you mention your own software or are you using SimCommander? Even if this is not a project that you plan on selling as a business it is still using a commercial kit as it's base. That is why it is considered a commercial simulator. If indeed you are not using any commercial simulator hardware/electronics/software at all let me know and I would be happy to move this thread back to the DIY section.

Again; great job so far and I look forward to seeing your completed rig. :cheers

Hi my apologies, yes indeed the red parts are from SimExperience but the seat frame and mount are home made. Not quite sure yet wether to go with SCN5 actuators or keep going with my original design using a pid controller from bff and 2 sabretooth motor controllers .

I'm a bit confused, above you said 'I am using 2 Dyadic SCN5 actuators with my motion control software, RFactor, Live For Speed and City Car Driving. So far only got motion on Rfactor but only one actuator. Using TTL serial sub adapter' and now your not sure weather to go with SCN5 actuators? Would seem like a waste as the rig you have shown will have to be completely redesigned for DC motors. Anyway, your time and money.

Yes! It would seem like a waste of money, but and another but I've done all the maths on pivot position, cog and loading but the SCNs are still very noisy, not just the squeeking but a grating noise. After a bit of research it seems the very small movements of the actuators give rise the this particular noise, therefore must be my software approach. That's why I'm looking at the simtools software solution. Cheers Trev
