Hello, I have a problem with simtools, the engines do not move when I do the output testing. With the SMC3 it works well. I appreciate the help.

    I have checked the following:

    1. Simtools version 2.5.1 with activated DIY License
    2. SMC3 version 1.0
    3. USB port check in device manager Com 3
    4. Antivirus and firewall disabled
    5. I run Simtools as administrator
    6. Connections to the arduino verified
    7. I am not running SMC3 and simtools simultaneously
    8. I have reinstalled the USB port
    9. There are no beeps when I turn on the output testing
    10. I turn on the motors first, then the arduino and lastly simtools

What I can see first off is you need todisconnect your pots from motor then put your motor shaft arm where you want it to be in the neutral position awaiting input from you or a game. Then turn your pots without being attached to your motors with smc3 open until the green line is matched to the blue line in the center of the graph. then reattach to motors and you will be able to turn on the motors.

I have similar problem to above except my green line tracks blue line perfectly. I have done everything above but cannot get motors to move in SIMTools at all? what am I missing?

Output Bit Range should be - 10.

In Interface Settings the DIR being checked orange or not determines which way each axis moves: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/which-way-to-set-simtool-axis-movements.230/

SiomTools should be tested in Output Testing and work as expected before messing with any game: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/output-testing-default-profile-required.344/

LFS must be run before patching it for motion: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...run-in-first-person-mode-before-patching.365/

Make sure you grab a copy of the SimTools manual and keep it handy for reference: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rtfm-start-with-the-official-simtools-documentation.117/

Then see the motion profile tuning tips in the FAQs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

    OK

Do I really have to install, run and patch LFS to get output testing to work? I have no interest in the game and I have also read that it is important to get Output testing to work before going anywhere near a game.

    I have set output-bit range to 10

I was really hopeful for the orange tick-box - I hadn't seen these thank you, presumably you just tick one in each column?

Still no joy, despite working with manual and tips.

No you do not need LFS for Output Testing.

What you do need is a Default profile configured in Axis Assignments, as that is what Output Testing uses.

You will find the SimTools manual and SimTools FAQs helpful in understanding configuration, including DIR settings: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/which-way-to-set-simtool-axis-movements.230/

    I have this -
    upload_2022-7-11_13-2-54.png

I think I get DIR assiingments - (direction right?) , I am pretty comfortable with YAW, SWAY Heave etc. I greatly look forward to fettling all of them, but before I can do that, I just need to get the motors to move. at all, in any direction. Even a twitch would be encouraging at this point!

Just to re-iterate - everything fine in SMC3 - motors track blue line very well.

If it's any help, the motors are "chattering" a little bit when the IBT power is on - to there is a drive signal from the arduino of sorts?

Normally Pitch would be either both unchecked, or both checked, depending on how the motors are wired.

    What happens in Output Testing?

I have tried every combination of checked and unchecked for everything!
What happens in output testing is...... nothing at all! I click on "turn on" and fiddle with all the sliders and study my motors for any sign of movement.

    There is none

Then a small tear starts to form in the corner of my eye and my bottom lip starts quivering again.

I'm really starting to wonder if it is something in here...
    upload_2022-7-11_13-37-39.png
is that Interface output line OK? I got it from D Max on youtube - he must be on here! He's been spot on on everything else so far.

Check every thing step by step.

If SMC3 is working as expected, make sure it is shut down.

Make sure your computer is set to English Local: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-language-setting-bug-change-to-english-local.233/

Temporarily shutdown your Anti-virus and Firewall.

Reinstall SimTools and reconfigure making sure all settings are correct.

    Check Output Testing

    SMC3 Not started.
Language changed to English US EVERYWHERE.
    AV disabled
    Malware disabled
    Firewall disabled
    Uninstalled Simtools
Reinstalled simtools - full install, agreed to everything
Changed USB port - Now com 1 (worth a try)
Re-entered interface settings (serial now on COM1)
    Re-entered Axis Assignment
    Retried Output testing

    Still no motor movement

retried with "[A<Axis1a>][B<Axis2a>]" in interface output

    Nothing

Did you check the Com port is correct for the Arduino in Devices?

Com port now set back to 6 - Motors moving and tracking fine in SMC
    upload_2022-7-11_14-39-6.png
Motors do fight against manual change in hall-effect pot postition in simtools if that helps.

Also, after reading around here, I have also tried, deleting the com port and re plugging in, changing USB ports and updating drivers.

    Still no joy

OMG It started working!! All I did was start fiddling with interface output string (stuck an "e" on the end and got rid of the square brackets) and ms values (set to 10). Oddly and annoyingly, its still working now I have set them back to what I had! Which is a bit concerning!! Because I have no idea what fixed it! if it happens again I'm back to square 1!!! I'm off to do some config while I can!!

Thank you for your help anyway, but I have a horrid feeling I'll be back.!!
