    Hi:

I am new here and this is my first post. I am an electronic engineer and race car driver...

I am building my first sim and want to know if this controller will work with X-SIM: TI MDL-BDC24, brushed motor controller...

If it will work, it should be good, as it is the entire controller, motor driver in one unit and can handle a lot of power and seems very flexible.

It does have a serial interface (CAN as well as RS-232). You can also driver it w/analog voltage or PWM.

    Help would be appreciated...

    Thanks!

It looks like it could have potential. It seems to have a feedback wire up spot, which is good.
However, the more experienced members of this forum would give a better answer.

    Hi:

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it has an analog (pot) and digital encoder input for feedback.

I am primarily concerned about the serial interface over RS232...

We need to know the communication protocol of the controllers, which is not specified in the datasheet.

Reading a bit more on site a mirocontroller is still needed to send a pwm to to module and a direction.
Therefore would work as speed controller ie hooked back to a K8055 as an example. What is unclear is documentation on site without purchasing or asking the question on their forum is that with a software program you can control the card just like what we want to but is xsim able to talk to the card without a plugin ie uso still unclear mate ask them, or maybe a developer might be able to look into it. If ya work with electronics build tronics setup, parts pricy here in aussie ($190) without pcbs but xsim can talk to it perfectly and plenty of support. I started with the Jrks which do exactly what i wanted in a frex module but to go much bigger in sim wieght i need power, long live tronic, when my part arrive into australia my joyrider will have motion, sick of pulling a stick around to get motion, Setup as a big sit in joystick.
Sorry to go on, but without a direct plugin cant see it working as a standalone controller.

It works as a closed loop controller. Just find out the RS232 commands and if the USO can parse it or not.

eaorobbie: You are better off with the JRK. If you are going to build the AMC, skip the dMSHB part and use a pololu or sabertooth driver if you want more power.

I am throwing the pololu 12v12 jrk's at 19amps currently and they are holding up on my joyrider frame, be it with heatsinks and fans!
