I am wondering if there is any way to make the gears shift surges smoother and lighter without limiting the range of car acceleration and braking?

I am using my own software to convert 12 bit DOF values received from Simtools to coordinates and tilt angles of my cockpit. Here are my GameEngine settings:

My software then processes it using the specified limits for each DOF and sends commands to the rig.

My problem is that when I adjust the Tuning Center values and my DOF limits so that acceleration and braking feel good, the gear shift surges are way too violent. Greater Tuning Center values soften the gear shifts, but braking and especially acceleration become too limited.

My Tuning Center values are like this.

I use 100% smoothing filter for Surge in the Game Engine, but I feel that it does not really solve the gear shift problem but dampens accelration and braking.

Is there any Simtools setting that could help? Or should I think of somehow fixing this within my software?

Adjust the Tuning Center values to be closer for max and min.

Do you mean that I should make the absolute values of max and min closer to zero? I understand that makes the all the movements sharper and exaggerates the gear shifts, isn’t that so?

Or do you mean that I should make it more symmetrical?

The reason for the asymmetry is that I like the braking feel, but would like to make accelerations more pronounced

More symmetrical will reduce the severity of gear changes.

The lower the values the sharper the effect, the larger the value the smoother the effect, over a larger range.

    Thanks!

So I assume this is how the min/max values are interpreted:

    Correct?
