Hi I'm going to have a a bash at a an actuator, and was wondering what would be a typical choice for the lead on a ball screw that you all are using?

Ive seen everything from a 2 through to 10, now I know its has something to do with the speed advancing the nut but is there a calculation handy that may help me choose the right pitch.

    Regards Jerry.

Speed from a screw .Make from rpm rounds second and this time screwpitch.
    3000rpm /60\=50x 5mm pitch =250mm sec
    Force in newton= 2 x pi x torque /pitch\= and this x screw efficienty
    Torque in newton
    Pitch in meter
    Screw eff. ballscrew is 90%
    hope this helps
