Did you guys already know that kickstarter project?
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/190 ... n-platform

Currently they are only using pitch and roll but it looks awesome.

    There is a video at:

Btw. nothing for hobby purposes. I prefer our little 2 and 3 dof beasts :)

Yes I know of them from another site.
They were after kickstarter donations for their own project of which you see, nothing else, no extra plans, commercial plans, etc.
Myself and others kicked up a real stink about it, since they posted on the site over there and people didnt pick up their idea till too late.
So some people handed over quite a bit of cash when all it was that they were after money to pay for it, nothing more. However, I think they offered a t-shirt for donations over $1000.
So needless to say, they obviously got what they wanted.
    Foul Pests.

Cute. The simulator can spin that way and that way. Mentors weren't too careful about teaching them axes names haha. Not sure they got the degrees down either - 360 degrees would smash it into the surrounding frame, I would have thought?

I think I prefer flight simulators. Car racing games are too loud :p

Thats about right for a 6 DOF, $5000-$6000. Thats for 240v.
Since the advent of control boards, a 6 DOF has become cheaper for sure.
Even 6 JRKS and 6 boat winch motors adds up to $1300, then a frame, etc.

It was $5000 just for the motors. $11k all up - that's USD, buying from the US market.

It sounds cheap, for sure. But $900 / motor sounds a lot, I thought.

Any idea what the sew motors cost that CAK use?

I never would backpack in such a project when
    A) They do not offer the plans, sketches and software for the community
or B) They do not offer a commercial affordable product for everyone.
So it´s very poor not give more credits to their financial booster.

The Viper project looks nice, but i do not understand why that guys concentrate first on interior before they make the whole thing moving.
Seems that they underestimate the effort to make motion simulator though:)

I saw another kickstarter recently where a US photographer was going to go on a holiday up the east coast of Australia, and people chipped in something like $3500 to help her do it.

    Boggles the mind.

And slow like the units shown at xsim , 14-26rpm, to me useless in motion sims.
We are pushing 150-180rpm - which equates to 500-650mm/sec

Some of those kick starters are a hoot. Most of them are a form of panhandling rather than crowd funding

yes, but people will donate to just about anything.
Maybe organisations like Salvation Army Red Shield appeal, St Vinnies, charities that actually help people should be on kickstarter.
They may get more donations than door knocking.
