Just thought I’d post a picture of my 720 stick I completed a few days ago. :yippiee:

It’s a perfect replica of the original joystick with Delrina on Steal providing the friction rather that a stupid chain system found on the original.

(Yes I have a 720 in my garage – lol)

    P1010421.JPG

I removed the disk encoder boards from my original arcade stick and scanned them to my PC. After a few touchups, I made a PDF of the scan, and re-made the encoder boards out of PCB board. (Just like you would a circuit board) – lol worked perfect! And I can adjust tension on the stick to whatever I feel like at the time – lol.

I have to set up 720 in mame as if it’s using a real arcade stick – lol
I could even attach it to the real standup arcade machine If I wanted too.

Now to put my 720 back together and sell it – lol

    Anyway, thanks for the look!

Looks great! I'm not familiar with 720 but always wanted to build a mame cabinet - another one of those projects waiting to be started.

I have all the designs for a mame cabinet too, plus 6000+ roms, got the spare pc (dual core 2.8) a old 21" screen all awaiting for me too put it all together, yes just some spare time is needed, at the moment I play my mame games with my overhead projector, love reliving the old days of timezone, where i spent countless hours and pennys playing games.

    Hi Fellas,

Because I wanted a cab I could add on to later without needing a cluttered control panel.
I decided to build a mini bar that will act as the cab and will also hold 3 one player joysticks.
The 720 stick above is just one of the sticks planed.

The joysticks will be connected by ribbon cable to the top of the cab and will be able to be easily swapped out.

here are some pic's of the idea
    arcade2.6.png
ribbon cable inlayed in the top of the cab

    Mini ITX pc housing
    arcade2.4.png
    joystick storage

    arcade2.3.png

8 way sticks (gave away for x-mas)

    pinball
    P1010020.JPG

I'm in no rush to get this done - it's the project I work on when I have nothing to work on lol.

So I can connect all joysticks under the sun I have collected
    1 A-Pac (Star Wars / joysticks)
    http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac.html

    1 Opti-Pack (trackball controller / 720)
    http://www.ultimarc.com/optipac1.html

1 Rotary Joystick Interface (ikari warrior sticks)
    http://www.ultimarc.com/rotary.html

with all 3 of these connected to a 50 pin ribbon cable, it's then only a matter of connecting the right pins to each device for any joystick I build.

These things are fun to build. I hope you do not mind if I share this in your thread.

I built this a few years ago for a customer, he wanted a bartop cabinet for his Nintendo collection.

Sweet , I need to get a wiggle on with mine, yes too a long project, lol, sims keep getting in the way.
Got the donar pcs and screens just need to buy the sticks and stuff all can be locally sourced and build the cabinet, mate builds kitchens for a living and they have a cnc wood cutter, he offered to cut them out for a carton of beer if I supply the MDF, Im a metal worker, who hates working in wood.
Like the Nintendo cabinet too, mmm too many things to do ah.
