I have these ballscrews, will they do for an actuator?

Hi all, I have been on and off for years thinking about a motion platform but I never get around to it. One of the reasons is because of the cost of the actuators and getting them in New Zealand.

My thinking was a bit grand as I wanted heave for flight simming and that makes things a bit more complicated. I am now thinking about something simpler, something that I might actually get done! A lot of my simming time is spent racing rather then flying (IL2 when I do that). I figure that it's going to be pretty cool anyway..

So, I have some parts that I could use for making my own actuators but I want to see others opinions. I have a stepper controller board which I need to see if it will work with the software and some 600oz steppers. The ballscrew is 16mm /10 i.e. 10mm travel for each turn. I am unsure of the maths to figure out the speed/torque required of the motors to turn the screw and hold the weight. Being a ballscrew, it doesnt take much weight for it to want to turn itself.

To those in the know, would these components be a good starting point for a diy actuator?

FYI, I would quite like my pedals and wheel to move with the platform but I figure the 3x24 TH2go set up might be pushing it? I was thinking of the frex design, not the joyrider.

    Thanks,
    JAson.
