Complete newbie - electronic side anyways.

I built a static sim from 2 pvc with 3 x 24 monitors, buttkickers, race seat, Logitech G27 wheel. we loved it but wanted more.

Did some research, bought these parts - now what?

How do I connect all these parts together?

PLEASE Help, beginning to get frustrated.

Well theres a lot to do now.

Refer to here to setup http://www.x-simulator.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4564&p=43342&hilit=#43342

We can now setup the Ard with pots connected and h bridges connected.

One thing you need to sort is that wiper motors use a body earth and connected to a sim can kill electronics attached to it. So you need to isolate the earth from the body of the wipers so when the power reverses it doesnt make the body of the wiper live with 12v's

From getting the wipers moving in the Control software that is written we can move on and set up the simulation software.

    Small steps my friend.

    Thanks for the response.

small steps are still positive steps.

ok, got the Xloader and hex files. Arduino is connected on com4.

next small step? Is there anything else I am going to need besides what I already have?

Ok no you look like you covered all the bits,

You really need to setup the motors correctly with pots attached to produce a feedback signal for the ard to know what position your motor is in.

Examples of how I have done this in the past.

But please make sure your motors wiring has been isolated from the body of the wiper.
I do have a picture showing how to test this, but need to upload it to site.

I have used this software and Ard to build dashboard, sim, etc. So build away with knowing what you have works and works well.

And dont hesitate to ask questions, small or large will always be answered.

good ideas, was thinking more along the lines of direct drive from the wiper shaft, would you recommend this as I think it would be more minimalistic.

Here is a close up of the motor connections.

    1 blue/red wire , 1 blue/black wire , 1 black (earth wire) , 2 other connection blades

    tested motor..

positive on red/blue and blue/black connected makes motor go (switch these 2 over and it goes in reverse) motors work.

negative ground on all metal parts

Negative grounding on all metal parts need to be fixed mate, can not have a earth leak because when power reverses you motor becomes live with 12v making your sim live with 12v, dangerous to all electrical equipment attached.

    This needs to be changed

ok, we are good to go with motors.

    Both tested, no leaks anywhere.

Motors - taken apart - ungrounded, painted and modified.

Shows the before and after side by side.

Now you need to set the motors like my examples above the wipers lever needs to connect to the pot, basically the pot is used to feedback a position the motor arm is in.

From there we can wire it all up and flash the ard UNO with the firmware and start to set it up.

By the way when you ready with working hardware, we can bring you into our beta release as this will serve as a good test case to make sure the ard is fully compatable.
So make an application to admin(Raceray or Yobuddy) for access to new software when you are ready to go.

OK, here is my temporary mock-up for motor until we make sure everything is gonna work.

You can see that I have attached the pot directly to the motor and clamped it in place, I have not added power to the motor since doing this as I know it will rotate too far and break the pot.

You can see the positive and negative motor wires at the top.

    Awaiting instructions.

Ok, before i can advise further and produce a wireing diagram to make it easy for you, I need to know which way have you choosen to drive this, Ard or Sabertooth Method.
Please advise me and I will draw up a wiring diagram for you, with some instructions on how to set it all up once wired up.

Looking good my friend, should test well.

I have the Ard UNO v3, so I think ard is the way to go.

    Getting exciting now.

    Here is the bridge.

How do I start with the programming of the Ard?

I couldn't really follow the instructions by prilad as I'm not using the same hardware.

This was the pic I tried to follow but it is not very clear on connections and if I've not programmed the Ard, it wouldn't work anyway.
