Question How to prevent 3DOF simulator to move in my room?

    Hi Simtools community,

    I have built a 3 DOF, Vesaro style, simulator. Very nice stuff, it does however move around to much in my room after a long stint with a lot of motion. So, I have to move it back in place every time. With a total rig weight of 75 Kg, it is quite annoying. What are your solutions to keep your motion simulators in place? (Without drilling holes in my floor? )

    I agree with the rubber mat suggestion.

    I also think that you'd benefit from adding another mat, of a different material, on top of that. I'm thinking that maybe a thicker, foam mat would be best for that purpose, so that the actuator legs can "sink" into it and achieve a better grip. You might also consider adding rubber feet to the actuator legs, if it doesn't already have them, to further improve its grip.

    I haven't tried this at all, so your mileage may vary. There is a potential drawback to using a thicker, foam mat on top though: the motion might feel less responsive, and you'll likely lose out on detailed feedback because the foam will absorb the initial movements of the actuators.

    It's probably best to only use the rubber mat first, with rubber feet on the actuators, and test to see if it meets your expectations.
