    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking quite a while, but finally have been getting everything together to build a 6dof setup. I've been 3d printing a prototype, got my Simtools license, heXpod key and unpacked my AMC1280USB that I purchased back in 2017

I plugged in the AMC to my computer's USB port and am only getting blank squares on the display. I was wondering if @Thanos or anyone might have a suggestion on what to try or did I just get a bad board? Being that this is a first hookup, I don't really have much to go on other than it doesn't seem like any of the various videos I've watched are showing the same display startup.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    Best regards,

    Dan

    Hi Calvin,

    The procedure is as this:

    1. Remove the jumper and press the reset button.
    2. Press the download button in the universal bootloader utility to start downloading the fimware.
    3. As soon the downloading starts, place the jumper back to B0 position.
    4. as soon the firmware is done downloading you are done.

Just remember to unplug any devices from the AMC1280USB board (6DOF ext board included)

Thank you very much for the responses. I'll try that now. Obviously I need to take out the 6DOF board per the instructions, so I'll write back shortly with the results.

Ok, so I downloaded the latest firmware per the link,

    Opened AVRUBD
    Loaded the enc_6dof_AMC1280USB_v3.5_rev1b.hex file
Changed it to Com Port 5 (screenshots included)
    Removed the jumper
    Pressed Reset
    Started Download from AVRUBD

From there, it ends up with a "x Connect fail" message after repeated "Send Connect Key" messages.

Looking at the Atmega board, the LED's are flashing with every attempt.

As per the other videos, I tried several times.

Any suggestions? Obviously it's trying to connect.

Hi @Nisch LOL I was there in the same panic end of the world mode until last night, so I can say I fully understand the relief your feeling .. Great news for you that your problem got sorted .
Im now able to move to another steo as I can now run FlyPThexpod and operate the Test Actuator in Manual mode at least, whilst still testing and using Optical Encoders & Encoder2Pos Interface..
Early days But moving in right direction again at last :) The Amc has taken a beating in my hands and still lives so that's a Big Plus in my Book Cheers @Thanos Good luck with your Build @Nisch now it gets a bit hectic :) but good stuff
