i never was crazy about games

untill i meet LFS and all of you with your real Gauges

    a litle help plz

untill now i dont have any hardware in my hands

and i want to ask you want i need to buy

    ------------------------------------

    if i get it right

    with the

    Velleman
    K8055D USB
    VM110

    i will be able to:

    - add 5 buttons or switch to my project (5 digital inputs)

    - 8 outputs ( 8 digital open collector output switches ) with 8 relays and one 12dc power source i will be able to light up 8 12v diferent indicator lights in my dashboard

    - (2 analog outputs) with this i will be able to set up two gauges speedometer and rpm meter

    - (2 analog inputs) - can i use them as an output for temp meter and fuel meter or i need one more k8055?

    ---------------------------------

i managed to pass the data from LFS to the Force Profiler

how easy it is to extract them to my dashboard if i have the above and calibrate them?
do i need to know any programming language?

the servos are connected directly to the 8055 analog outputs or there is something between those two?

    thanks a lot

    and hapy easter

    Hi herctrap

before you buy a expensive gauge board you have to check the connections !!
So try to talk with some people ( e.g. of the car groups ). you need a connection ( freqency) for speed(sensor in the gearbox) and rpm and the resistor sensor inputs for tank and temp. !!

( can you get a used favorite gauche to test ? ) you can't connect CAN-Bus gauches !
( if i have to much time ...i try to work on it)

    thsi is very nice..
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

    you can use this meters:
    i have to have gauges like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT
    http://cgi.ebay.com/52MM-ELITE-10-COLOU ... 19bb1cccae

but the working not very nice:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JIWHlOK ... r_embedded

if you need a pcb ..i have left one(without parts).
we can talk also about a ready controller.

    bye

    what is a can-bus gauge?

pcb - you mean the printed board for your circuit?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

you just copy paste the link

    I mean

    right clik / copy link

    dirk?

ok if i get the ready card

i see that you have 10 pins for output

    that means

    1 ground
    1 +12
and 8 pulses for gauges max

but i think that you have 4 outputs just you havent found a smaller pin connector

    ----------------------

so do i get ready outputs

3 pin conector for each of my gauge

or do i need sothething between your card and my gauge

    -------------------------------------------------

and i have get it right

i dont need the pulse generator

i have to programm the chip for each diferenet cluster that i will use?

    corection

    10pins

    ground
    +12
    4 clusters
    and more than 4 led's

so i have to make one more board between your controller and my cluster

    Hi

    look on the circut :
    http://www.x-simulator.de/wiki/images/C ... 300dpi.JPG

    you see the ST9 10pin plug ?
    pin function
    1 +5V
    2 GND ground
    3 fuel lamp
    4 fuel meter
    5 temp lamp
    6 temp meter
    7 oil lamp
    8 rpm meter
    9 batt lamp
    10 speed meter

this are open collector output from the ULN2803 transistor driver ic.
the output switch to ground so you have to connect the other side of the lamp
to +12V. ( the older controller version don't have the ULN2803 on board, this is the
reason for the small pcb at the nissan cluster )

there can be some differences in the gauges for the speed and rpm.
some speed meters need a 5Volt AC Signal (speed sensor in the gear box). So you need a ELKO CAP and a resistor. look on the nissan nx-100 connection. there you see a CAP 22µF and 1K resistor?
The outputs for the tank and temp are PWM outputs. if you use older meters you can use CAP 220µF and 22 Ohm resistor to generate a DC current. For newer gauges you need a different way to simulate the resitor for the tank and temperature. no problem ! i can help you with that !

i never need more outputs for different lamps ! you ?
in the data is normally not more information !
    Data form = s200r6500t90g25m5e = 200km/h 6500min-1 90grad 25 liters 6gear

the I2C output was a option for more outputs for lamps..never used.
the servo output was a plan for RC servos. But they are very noisy and the movement
    ist not nice and realistic.

ST6 is a rpm overdrive ledbar with 7 different outputs for leds
    ST7 is a gear 7seg output
the learn switch is to adjust the gauges (speed rpm frequencys ...) .Enter the setup if the switch is on when the power on the controller is switched on.
To adjust the range of the rpm leds: press the switch in running mode at full rpm

if you whant to use LifeForSpeed you can ask to use the easy way from a other group member for gaugeoutput tool !!! If not you should use the way force profiler..second pc with profiler..we can talk about that..

i just download rfactor and see that it has more options and outpus than lfs

i will go back home in 2-3 days and a friend will give me an alfa romeo cluster

    i will send you photos

    and we will discus more

    thanks very much

    hi

for the rpm override led bar and the 7segment gear light it's your choise !

you can use a 9mm or 100mm shiftlight or a huge red led module for shifting sign.
you can connect bigger outputdrivers or relais...you can separate the +12V and the outputsupply
    to connect e.g. +24V lights...

you can use every led system up to 500mA/chanel (see datasheet of the ULN2803 for the total possible power ). Then you need a bigger power supply and
have to calculate the resistors for each chanel.

i use a led bar DC-7G3HWA (google for datasheet with dimensions)
    7green 3red leds

    price approx. 0,60 Euro

the gear 7seg led have to be common anode ( all leds one side together to +12V connection )
a small one 10..13,5mm cost the same. like SA 39-11 RT or SA 52-11 RT. look for datasheets ( color, dimensions and light power (cd) what is the best for you

check what you like and fits into the alfa cluster .

    bye dirk

First of All, Hello All X-Sim Members! And Thanx 4 Having me Along!
Ok Lets get down to it. I need as Much Information on Building A working Gauge Cluster For My iRacing Sim Seat. I'm starting from scratch and the only thing I know, is where to find a Gauge Cluster. Now, My problem is, is that I'm an Idiot when it comes to electronics, wiring, and how to hook everything together to get my computer to reqognize the Guages in Conjunction to the Game, or computer. *I could use A list of all items needed to get the project started, and maybe some Literature to help me along. What I have in mind is A Tachometer w/rpm light, Speedo, Fuel Gauge, Temp gauge, and Gear Number Display. I saw some Schematics where some members have assembled their own clusters, But I just cant read them. Should I take A Class on electronics? Any and All Info Would help!! BTW, you guys got some cool Gear! When I grow up, I wanna be an X-Sim Mechanic. Thanx to Anyone who can help, Eric.
P.S. If you wish to respond by Email, Send to CoxRacing@msn.com
    Thanx Again

Hi CoxRacing ! where are you from ? please make a stamp in the your user-map.

you have to think first what you whant !
a real Gauge Cluster ? then talk first with people in the web, about the connection of this.
the dash need the signal connection for the rpm, speed and fuel and temp gauges separate !

    bye

Ok, I think I've Updated my profile Correctly. Any ideas on where togo tostart talking to people in the web about the Connection? Here on X-Sim? or Elsewhere? In the Meantime, I'll find A Gauge Cluster I want. Talk to you soon,
    ~Eric~

    Hi

it's funny to see all the people over the world. You can make a marker on
my profile / my user map.

BEFORE you buy a Gauge Cluster talk with other people that this have the connections
(speed = sensor in the gear box (frequency up to 300Hz), rpm (frequency up to 300Hz), temp and fuel sensor is a resistor to ground.

    bye
