I just watched it tonight, a really enjoyable movie.

The movie follows the rivalry during the 1976 Formula 1 series between James Hunt and Niki Lauda. It is of course dramatized but very interesting regardless.

If you have seen the movie, what did you think?

    Hi @Historiker,

I thought it was a great move too.
I looked up the real wreck on YouTube, and the one in the movie is spot on!
Needless to say, I was impressed at how close it looked to the real thing.

    Hi @Historiker, :)

I watched the film with my wife! and we liked it both even if she's not really racing addict

Maybe you could start a Poll on which kind of driver we are? Hunt or Lauda?

Yes worth watching for any race fan, and yes the story follows fairly true to what happen in F1, wish I was born in that era, they race real F1 cars not the electronic crap of today.
    10+ for the movie.

I also remember the rivalry and this accident. Was great to know a little more from behind the scenes.

    Very enjoyable movie.

    I enjoyed it too.

Lauda and Hunt were rivals but were also closer than the movie portrays, in the early days they shared a small flat together.

If you liked Rush do watch the 2013 F1 documentary simply called 1...it opens with the amazing 1996 Melbourne GP crash, covers Hunt and Lauda, including Lauda's crash and safety concerns, and links the modern reformation of F1 toward safety originating with the death of Ayrton Senna. I consider it a 'must see' for those interested in F1, big money interests and engineering possibilities. It is way better than its official trailer suggests!
