Don't know what I'm missing, but when I click on a post that's not in English, it does not translate...."Select Language" there is no English to select.
What do I need to do?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Parlez-vous français ? Google Chrome's built-in translation bar helps you read more of the web, regardless of the language of the webpage.

Look for the translation bar at the top of the page whenever you come across a page written in a language that isn't one of your preferred webpage languages. To translate the page, click Translate. To dismiss the translation bar without translating the page, click Nope.

Enable or disable the translation bar
    1. Click the Chrome menu [IMG] on the browser toolbar.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Click Show advanced settings.
    4. In the "Languages" section, use the "Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language I read" checkbox to adjust this feature.

    Hello Historiker,
Well, I'm using IE 11 - not Chrome...so didn't help. I've had other sites pop up with the Google Translate - I select English, and it converts it....just don't have English as an option here on this site.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Woops, that makes sense. I misunderstood.

I use Firefox myself but keep Google Chrome installed to use the translate feature. It is very handy.

Were you referring to the Google Translate dropdown that @RaceRay built into the top of the site?

I have also noticed it doesn't have English as an option... Maybe it is because the site is in English so google doesn't think it is necessary?

Perhaps there is an option RaceRay can configure to include it as an option anyway... would be nice.

I did a work around and told Google that the default language is italian. Now you have the option to translate into english. Hope there are no negative side effect due to declaring our site as italian. Unfortunately there is no other way to do it.

Please check it out and give me feedback about it.

There are maybe more native Italian speakers here than native Klingon speakers. Can't you select such a language?

    RaceRay,
It now opens the Google Translate fine, however, it hangs at 54% with "translation in progress".... maybe my browser / or / an issue.
    Thanks so very much,
    Tom

For me some pages seem to load slow at times while google "translates" but not consistent.

However even though I can now select English it doesn't translate the non English parts? I was using this thread as a test: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simulador-2dof-arduino-inicio.4935/

Perhaps an alternate solution to the problem is to just put a link to the google translate page somewhere so it is quick to get to it and just use copy/paste?

Mhh it seems google is only translating english into a selected language. The more is think about it, the more it is obvious:

Google detects previously before doing the translation job which is the main language on every page. The page you mentioned is mainly written in english so google can only translate from this language to the language of your choice. G is not almighty as we sometimes think and not able translate different parts on a page into different languages.

So its not a browser problem.

Btw. we have a english speaking forum. So when you recognize somone has written in another language ask him nicely to translate his post into our main language.
I think about it if its useful to have another link to google translate. Maybe its enough to write about the topic in a separate info post and made it sticky.
