At the moment im using some wiper motors for my G head system. It's not really optimal and im looking for motors that spins freely when there is no to very little power to them so i can move my head around when either not driving or no DOF forces are applied/very little power. Preferably something i can use with my 12v PSU and normal motor controllers. Any idea's?

Hello. You can try engine fan(radiator) motors. They have no gearbox and are easily back driven. I sourced mine from local auto scrapyard for 20 euros a piece. Measured the stall current of about 10-15 amps at 12v, depending on manufacturer. The solution with these motors is torque based, not position based, and involve no potentiometers and letting the motors return to its position by itself.
