I just finished my first chair build (non-motion). Poked around a bit and found out about these cool motion setups you guys are making. Looks like I have only just began my build.

2d0f chair and shifter with traction loss on all looks about the place would like to start. I know zip nadaa about the part between my usb port and the chair, But I'm fairly confidant in the build part.

I poked around the warehouse for some ideas and found these rotary actuators, look a little better than wiper motors and have a good bit of wiring ready. I also found a couple busted up power wheelchairs and some power supplies, so I have a few options.

I have a lot of reading to do in my down time, so some direction would be helpful.

here are some pics of the chair I thought was the coolest thing till I saw your chairs

For a good read i can recommend the FAQ, it basically contains most of the info that you need to know. I would also look at members projects, this should give you some ideas and hints. And last but not least you can ask questions here, this community is very helpful and will steer you in the right direction.

Electric Wheelchairs often contain motors that could be used, look for motors that are 12v or 24v. From what i know you can use 120v/240v motors, but the electronics to drive/control them are expensive.

Your non motion seat is nice, i like the idea how it folds away. Pretty cool if space is restricted.
