Just curious if anyone knows if this would be usable as a starting point for a DIY Direct Drive wheel setup?

Only just realized today that maybe DIYing a Racing Wheel is viable today, after DIYing controllers for other arcade games haha

    Thanks.

Seems to be very limited info about the actual specs, you may need to search to find more.

According to the Manual of the game, it's a DTM-7060.

Quick google search and I found -

40w does not seem very much

Is this wheel direct drive or is it geared

My suggestion is to use a 1020my 1kw motor or go for it and build a proper servo motor

I think your motor is a bit weak for a racing wheel, it s about the same as a thrustmaster t300

I mean "same as a $345 wheel" seems okay to me for someone who wants to just get into this, is there a part list/build guide I'd need to make a usable setup?

a stepper motor is not suitable for FFB imo

use a dc or servo motor
